In a November issue of TechBriefs, Bruno Armond Crepaldi, CTO at ADISRA, explains the importance of data acquisition and analytics; something that has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is easier said than done, however. Legacy equipment with proprietary protocols are just one of the many challenges. How do you turn all this “data” into “action”? In his article Mr. Crepaldi advocates utilizing HMI/SCADA at the edge with their analytic software and visualization interface. HighByte’s ‘industrial data ops’ platform is another option. According to their website their Intelligence Hub is a “platform-agnostic solution runs on-premises at the Edge, scales from embedded to server-grade computing platforms, and offers a code-free user interface.” It’s worth checking out at HighByte.com.
