AEC Engineering has a unique opportunity to join our growing company as an Electrical Controls Intern in Freeport, Maine.

This position, reporting to the Shop Foreman, will assist our highly skilled team of technicians, engineers, designers and support staff in the fabrication control panels that have been engineered to meet the unique needs of our customers.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working on electronic equipment with their hands and tools. Fabrication takes place in our climate-controlled shop in Freeport, ME. You will be fabricating control panels under the supervision of, and working alongside, experienced professionals.

You will be performing tasks such as: drilling steel back panels using a drill press; mounting din rail using hand tools; mounting PLCs, VFDs, and other devices onto a back panel; mounting terminal blocks of various sizes; wiring using different colors, gauges and lengths of wire; assembling power cables; cutting steel enclosures using a jigsaw or other power tools; mounting & wiring touch screens; and assorted other tasks required to produce these sophisticated pieces of equipment.

This position will be Part-Time/Temporary at $20/hr. It will be available May–September, 2024. Hours will range from 20–40 per week and will depend on workload and may be subject to change. The work schedule will be discussed with the successful candidate. AEC Engineering operating hours are 7am–5pm Monday through Thursday and 8am–2pm on Friday.

AEC Engineering is located at 172 Lower Main Street, Freeport, Maine. Parking is available on site. Work attire is casual, and when working in the shop, clothing should be comfortable “work clothes” as they are likely to get dirty.
