The Hannover Messe Automation Fair, held annually in Hannover, Germany, recently concluded, showcasing the cutting-edge innovations that are shaping the future of automation and industrial technology. AEC Engineering’s Tim Hooper, Nate Barrett, and Brandon Morissette attended this amazing international event as guests of Phoenix Contact and distributor Airline Hydraulics.
The Hannover Messe Automation Fair draws thousands of attendees every year from around the globe, reflecting the event’s reputation as one of the premier industry gatherings. Spanning multiple exhibition halls and featuring thousands of exhibitors from a wide array of sectors including robotics, artificial intelligence, and IoT (Internet of Things), the scale of the event was truly impressive. Some exhibitor booths were massive and included meeting rooms, lecture areas, multiple levels, and even bars and hot meals! Throughout the multiple venues there were interactive displays and live demonstrations that illustrated the latest advancements in automation.
The theme of this years Fair was “Shaping the Future with Technology”, and more to the point was Phoenix Contact’s theme of “Empowering the All Electric Society”. The AEC team had the opportunity to tour the Phoenix Contact manufacturing facilities in Blomberg and Bad Pyrmont, Germany. It was a privilege and honor to learn about this 100 year old, privately held company, and the extraordinary efforts they make to design, engineer, manufacture, and deliver the critical components needed for the current industrial revolution.
Phoenix Contact is a global company, and the AEC team was part of the USA delegation. There were other delegations from around the world including Canada, Central America/Mexico, Brazil, and Australia. China and the Pacific rim countries were also well represented. In total Phoenix Contact hosted approximately 1,000 guests. Impressive!
The opportunity to network with other automation and industrial controls professionals was one of the highlights of the trip. It was interesting to note that while surrounded by demonstrations of AI, machine learning, and “cloud services”, it was the personal connections that were made that were the most memorable.
In summary, the Hannover Messe Automation Fair 2025 and tours of Phoenix Contact’s facilities was a once in a lifetime experience. It showcased the best of what the industry has to offer – not only in terms of technology, but also the People that are shaping the future. We are grateful for this amazing experience and would like to thank our gracious hosts at Phoenix Contact for their hospitality and partnership.
