A long-time AEC customer called the other day for some assistance. He needed to do some programming on the drives in one of his pumping stations and needed AEC expertise. The challenge was that this station is located about a mile offshore and would require a long drive—and a ferry ride—for an AEC technician to get there and back. It would be at least a day, and possibly more if unforeseen circumstances arose. (And we have been doing this long enough to know there are always unforeseen circumstances.) Fortunately during the initial installation a few years ago AEC set up a secure remote connection using the Phoenix Contact mGuard. The Phoenix Contact mGuard provides a secure connection over public networks and enables remote maintenance to be performed safely. By connecting to the customer’s equipment in this manner AEC could perform the programming needed from the comfort of the office. No boat ride needed this time!
