The Maine Water Environment Association (MeWEA) Fall Convention was held September 16–17 at the Sunday River Grand Summit Resort in Bethel, Maine. Keynote speaker was Travis Mills, army veteran, motivational speaker, and one of only 5 servicemen from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive quadruple amputation. If you’ve never heard Travis speak, we encourage to do so. His self-deprecating humor immediately endears him to the audience and his story of success, devastating injury, recovery, and then success once again, is amazing. It will change your perspective and make you think twice if you’re ever having a bad day. In the 10+ years since his injury, Travis has accomplished some amazing things. During his speech he also announced that his Foundation has just broken ground on a multimillion dollar health & wellness center for veterans. Please check out his website to learn more about this inspirational person, and consider contributing. The foundation is supported by private and corporate donations.
