Meet Sarah. Sarah was referred to AEC Engineering by one of our summer interns last year, Anne, who thought Sarah “would fit right in.” Sarah & Anne had been teammates on their high school’s robotics team. While on the team Sarah learned to operate manufacturing machinery and to fabricate parts from technical drawings. Later she learned how to design and install electrical and circuitry components. Her accomplishments included being Captain of a team that included 35 teammates. For the first time in over a decade, the team made it to the world championships in 2019 placing in the top 60 of over 9,000 teams. They also won the Chrysler Global Team Spirit Award while she was captain. Sarah’s involvement with the robotics team continued after high school. As one of three 2021 adult mentors, her sub-team’s business proposal of a “Seeing Climbing Wall” for the blind was selected 1st out of 20 US semifinalists to continue development toward presentation to venture capital judges at the June, 2021 World Championship. Sarah is also a member of the non-profit STEMXX.ME®, whose purpose is “Empowering young women to professionally excel in STEM through leadership & compassion-driven engineering & technology.” While these accolades are all significant, what makes Sarah a delight to have in the shop is her bubbly personality, genuine interest in learning, and dependable work ethic. We’re lucky and pleased to have her aboard!
