The new year is off to a strong start with an order for 32 Field Network Enclosures (FNEs) that will support monitoring and control of the electrical generation for a 100 megawatt solar project coming online soon. According to promotional materials, once online, it will be the largest utility scale solar installation ever constructed in New England—and we’re excited to play a part in it.
While the cabinets themselves aren’t especially complex, this order represents a milestone for us: for the first time, we can build all 30+ units simultaneously in our expanded fabrication shop. This new capability dramatically improves efficiency, simplifies material management, and shortens overall turnaround time.
Before our recent expansion, large orders had to be produced in smaller batches of 10-15 units at a time. Although workable, that approach required more material handling, more staging, and as a result, more shop time. Now we can leverage the efficiencies of scale—one of the key advantages we envisioned when planning the new space. Don’t worry, we still give every control panel the ‘personal’ attention that AEC is known for.
This is the second order of FNEs that we’ve built for this returning customer, and we’re proud to contribute to the renewable power generation solutions for New England.
