Here is some information that we pulled from the FCC’s website that may interest you:

Mobile carriers are shutting down their 3G networks, which rely on older technology, to make room for more advanced network services, including 5G. As a result, many older IoT devices will no longer be able to communicate for their data services. It is important to plan now so that you don’t lose connectivity.

What This Means for Customers

Customers who still have 3G / CDMA-only devices will need to upgrade or risk losing connectivity to these devices. By upgrading, customers will benefit from newer future-proof hardware that communicates on wireless technologies such as LTE and 5G.

Key Dates

  • AT&T shut down 3G GSM/UMTS—February 2022
  • T-Mobile shut down for Sprint customers—March 31, 2022
