One of AEC Engineering’s core values is that “We are in a technical industry so we will have technical expertise.”  We design and build industrial controls for a wide variety of industries. We also are a UL-508 panel shop, which means we adhere to the stringent standards that United Laboratories (UL) requires for a panel shop to be authorized to apply a UL sticker. The UL sticker is a requirement of many major industrial customers. It helps ensure that the panel has been built to acceptable standards in both safety and component quality. AEC Engineering happens to be certified to list panels UL-508, as well as the higher certifications of UL-698 and NNNY for panels being installed in hazardous locations.

It is with this in mind that plans have been made for four employees to achieve the UL-508A course “Designing for Compliance in Industrial Control Panels, UL 508A (3rd Edition) and Short-Circuit Current Ratings”. This involved online learning and taking a certification test.

SCADA, PLC, and HMI programming are additional services offered by AEC. Plans have been made to train two new employees in the Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 software platform. And another two employees will be training on the SCADA software offered by VTScada. For those interested, we have experience with most major PLC manufacturers such as Allen Bradley, Emerson, Schneider, Wago, and many more.

Ongoing manufacturer “lunch and learns” are planned for 2023. Topics include the programming of soft-starters; “smart” devices; new product releases; and instrumentation.

Training and education is a mind-set and should be a lifelong endeavor. We encourage employees to explore, educate, and execute new techniques and technologies. If we can put our education and expertise to work for you, please let us know.
