Meet AEC’s two 2025 summer interns!

Hi, my name is Garrett Perron, I am an intern at AEC Engineering and I also attend Central Maine Community College where I am studying Electrical Engineering Technologies. I was given an opportunity to work at AEC by the owner Tim Hooper who I met when I won a raffle they were holding at the career fair at CMCC. AEC is located in a very nice spot right off of I-295 and about 2 minutes outside of downtown Freeport. At AEC we don’t just create control panels, we create ‘functional art’! AEC has a wonderful team of panel technicians and engineers that all work together to build custom control panels. The owner Tim is always around the shop with the lead foreman willing to help and answer questions. Overall AEC Engineering is a great place to work!

Hello, I am Joseph Lodato, one of the two current interns at AEC Engineering. I grew up and currently live in Freeport, Maine, just a short distance from AEC. In the fall I will be a senior at Syracuse University studying Computer Engineering and Physics. At school I am one of the Chief Engineers and the lead of the electronics sub-team for the University’s Formula SAE team. Working as team, we design and build fully custom open wheel racecars and then compete in races against other schools from all around the world. Working at AEC this summer has truly opened my eyes to the intricacies of control panels, their design, and how they are fabricated. Between the sheer amount of information that I am exposed to, as well as the knowledgeable people that I work with every day, I am learning valuable skills that can only be learned through a hands-on experience like this. These skills will help greatly as I move forward in my professional career.
