Tim Hooper, President of AEC Engineering, recently attended the annual Maine Water Environment Association legislative breakfast held on January 16, 2024, at the Augusta Civic Center. The event, known as Waffles & Water, was sponsored by MeWEA, MWUA, NEWEA, and NEIWPCC, bringing together representatives from the drinking water and clean water industries to discuss important public policies affecting water and wastewater services in Maine.

The event provided attendees with the opportunity to hear about crucial public policy issues over a breakfast provided by the host organizations. Featured speakers shared their insights and perspectives on the state’s water environmental (and economic) landscape. Speakers included:

  • Melanie Loyzim, Commissioner, Maine Department of Environmental Protection
  • David Parent, Superintendent, Sanford Water District
  • Ivy Frignoca, Friends of Casco Bay
  • Brian Kavanah, Bureau Director of Water Quality, Maine Department of Environmental Protection
