Controls Engineer, Tyler R., successfully completed the Advanced Configuration Course offered by Trihedral for the VTScada software platform. VTScada, the “Industry’s Most Powerful SCADA* Software”, is a popular and easy-to-use software platform for creating highly-customized industrial monitoring and control applications. A wide variety of industries around the world use VTScada for mission-critical applications of every size. Almost 40% of North America’s population relies on VTScada for Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater services. VTScada controls over one third of the oil production in the North Sea alone. And over 80 million people depend on VTScada for emergency, fire, and medical alerting.

AEC Engineering is using VTScada for the upgrade of the wastewater treatment facility located at Schoodic Peninsula, which is part of the Acadia National Park system. Read more about this project.

* What is SCADA? Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems use a network to communicate with HMI (human machine interface) software (which VTScada also has) through distributed remote telemetry units (RTUs) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to control remote hardware and retrieve logged process information. For example, municipal utilities can use wireless radios (or an Ethernet network) to centrally monitor and control water distribution and wastewater collection sites, processes, and treatment facilities spread over a wide geographical area.
